The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program is an asset - building program designed to help participants of the Housing Choice Voucher Program transition into a life of social and economic self-sufficiency.
How does FSS Work?
-
During the term of the FSS contract, you will work with your case manager to link to resources, training, and job opportunities to help you move forward to achieve your goal of financial success.
-
In most cases, when your earned income increases and it results in an increase in your portion of rent, deposits may start to accumulate into the FSS escrow savings account
Why Choose FSS?
-
Participation in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program is voluntary. There is no penalty for trying the program. Participation does not affect your Section 8 Participation in any way.
-
FSS can open families/individuals to wide array of opportunities to improve their self sufficiency.
What will your FSS Case Manager do?
-
Support and encourage your success.
-
Connect participants with resources to achieve career/educational goals.
-
Enhance your employ-ability skills to secure better paying jobs and benefits.
-
Offer one-on-one, individualized case management so that your financial goals such as buying a car, home-ownership, or reducing the burden of debt become a reality.
Who can be a part of FSS?
-
Virtually anyone who is currently participating in the Housing Choice Voucher program and has a goal to obtain suitable employment.
